Tai O Village

Tai O is a quaint little fishing village tucked in the higher lands of Lantau.

A couple of months ago, my sister and I ventured out into the neighboring town of Tai O and rode the bus going to the mountains. Filled with a myriad of seafood markets and local fishermen going about their work, it was an entirely divergent scene from what I was accustomed to. The streets were filled with sun dried fishes, bicycles, old town boutiques and cafés. Witnessing the small things that make up their culture, from the renowned stilt houses down to their fishing boats, gives this quiet town a sense of ethereal peace and calm. The simplicity of it all makes a great escape from the hustle of the metropolis. If you ever find yourself in the island of Lantau, Hong Kong, this is a great getaway if you need a breather from big city.
