We must first love ourselves before we love others.
Celebrating the month of love doesn't only encompass our affections for the people that surround us, but let it be a reminder to love and take care of yourself as well. The best way to do this? Start your mornings by positively engaging your thoughts. Your mind is the most powerful entity that you can ever have at your disposal.
Affirmations are an incredible way to center your thoughts so it will constantly remind you of what a beautiful, empowered and remarkable being you are. It is about accepting yourself and letting go of negative thoughts, emotions and mindsets that hinders us from seeing our true amazing self. No, it is not about ego; it is about self love — one that people often neglect and oversee.
Sometimes, we are too busy making others happy or too busy pursuing worldly things that we believe will make us happy, to a point that we let ourselves and our true happiness go. So take a step back and evaluate. What are you doing to take care, love, and wholly accept yourself?
It's fairly simple and it can go like this:
- I am alight with happiness.
- I can achieve the impossible; there are no limitations.
- I am confident and empowered.
- I believe in the power of my thoughts.
So go ahead, take out a pen and a piece of paper, your journal or what have you. Begin writing down your own affirmations and start embracing and loving yourself the way you should have a long time ago.
